Our training schedule
Join our dedicated team of volunteers and gain essential skills to support your community. Our comprehensive training programme ensures you are ready for any challenge, from severe weather to public health crises. Discover how you can make a difference.

Why training matters
Our training sessions are crucial for equipping volunteers with the knowledge and skills needed to respond effectively during emergencies. These sessions ensure that our team is well-prepared to support Dundee City Council and emergency services in times of crisis, from severe weather events to community support operations. Consistent attendance helps us maintain a high standard of readiness and capability.

Training sessions
Volunteers are expected to attend training for 2 hours (7 - 9pm) on the first Wednesday of each month, and 4 hours (10am - 2pm) on the second Saturday of each month. These sessions are vital for maintaining your skills and readiness. Additionally, volunteers should make themselves available for occasional duties, such as providing first aid cover at community events. You may also be called out at short notice to deal with adverse weather, such as flooding, storm damage or to help with other emergencies.

Skills you will learn
Our comprehensive training covers a wide range of essential skills, preparing you for various emergency scenarios. You will learn First Aid & CPR, Fire Safety, Water Safety Awareness, Rest Centre Support, Weather & Hazard Awareness, Flood Waters Pumping and Sandbagging, and Radio Communications. These skills are invaluable for effective emergency response and community support.
